Alice Holley

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice Helen Holley on August 10, 2023. Born on August 9, 1946, in Canton, Ohio, Alice was a beacon of light to those around her, carrying an unwavering spirit of kindness and warmth. She was a woman of great strength and determination, tenacity and grace, embodying the words of Helen Keller: "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved."

Alice's life was marked by her unwavering devotion to education. She spent the majority of her career as a beloved teacher, touching the lives of countless students throughout the years. Her genuine love for teaching was evident in her actions, as she was known to spend countless hours preparing lessons that not only educated but also inspired her students. Alice believed in the transformative power of learning, stating, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire," a sentiment she shared with the Irish poet, William Butler Yeats. She lived this belief daily, sparking curiosity and encouraging growth in all her students.

Alice's burial will take place on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 9:30 am EDT at the West Lawn Cemetery, 1919 7th Street Northwest, Canton, Ohio, 44708. Arrangements have been entrusted to Schneeberger Funeral Home, 2222 Fulton Road Northwest, Canton, Ohio 44709. We invite all who knew Alice to join us in celebrating her remarkable life.
