It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrea Fumiko Otani, a beloved mom, aunt, sister, and friend, who passed away suddenly on May at the age of 55.

Andrea is a life-long resident of Canton, OH and graduated from GlenOak High School in 1988. Andrea spent much of her life bringing warmth, kindness, and a welcoming smile to others through her decades-long work as a restaurant server. She brought a strong work ethic wherever she worked, most notably Mulligans and Varieties. She built a genuine connection with regulars and newcomers alike, she made everyone feel at home. Her ability to remember not just names and orders, but life stories and milestones, made her a special part of the community she served.

Andrea was known for her big heart, her love of family and friends, and her generosity. She never missed a birthday, always shared a story, and knew just how to make people laugh. She was always able connect with others in a way not many could.

She is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Evelyn Otani, nephew Alex “Tosh” Otani, and fiancé Eloy A. Lopes.

She is survived by her daughter, Angelica Otani, best fur friend Clyde, brothers Richard (Lee) Otani, Terry (Laura) Otani, Burt Otani, Matthew (Sharon) Otani, Mark (Lori) Otani, and Danny Otani many nieces and nephews, and will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.

A viewing and celebration of Andrea’s life will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at Schneeberger-Oser Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Humane Society of Stark County in her memory.
