In Loving Memory of Bernard (BB) “Boomer” Massey II
A servant of God, a servant to people, and a source of peace.
Bernard (BB) “Boomer” Massey II, a beloved son, father, brother, partner, uncle, nephew,
cousin, and friend, passed away suddenly at the age of 48 on December 7th in Canton, Ohio, at
Aultman Hospital. His passing leaves a profound ache in the hearts of all who knew and loved
him.
Born on July 22, 1977, in Canton, Ohio, Bernard was the cherished son of Bernard “Bernie”
Massey I and the late Monica “Moni” (Brownsword) Massey. He was preceded in death by his
maternal grandfather, Glen Brownsword; paternal grandparents, Daniel and Eloise Massey; his
brother, James “Nate” Massey; his brother-in-law, Freddie “Buck” McMeans; and most recently,
his dear aunt, Glendora Brownsword.
Bernard is survived by his loving partner, Angelina Meek, and his three treasured children:
Lexus “Lexi” Massey, Bernard “Lil B” Massey III, and Skye Massey.
He is also survived by his devoted father; Bernard “Bernie” Massey I, beloved grandmother;
Julia King, one brother; Clayton (Tanya) Massey; and one sister; Ricca Massey McMeans.
Bernard leaves behind a large and deeply connected family, including his maternal aunt; Marcia
(Milton) Young; maternal uncle; John King; paternal uncles; William “Billboy” (Nadine) Massey,
Randy (Pam) Massey, Kenneth “Pete” (Pat) Massey, Donald Reith, paternal aunts; Pearla
McClendon, Donna “Tiny” Massey, Paulette McElroy, Sarah Fite, Gloria Massey, and a host of
special nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Bernard’s kindness was unmatched. He lived a life of quiet servitude, always showing up when
someone needed a helping hand or a reassuring presence. As a skilled mechanic, he used his
talents to bless others, often fixing cars for free, staying up late to help someone get safely back
on the road, and giving not only his time but the very shirt off his back. His hugs were legendary,
warm, strong, and healing. He had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved.
A natural peacemaker, Bernard brought calm where there was conflict, unity where there was
division, and laughter where there was heaviness. He lived as God instructs: serving others,
lifting spirits, and spreading love wherever he went. His legacy is one of compassion,
generosity, and a heart that beat for his family and community.
Bernard will be deeply, endlessly missed, yet he leaves behind a legacy that will continue
inspiring all who knew him to love deeply, help freely, and walk gently with one another.
He walked this earth with gentle hands, a mechanic by trade, but a healer at heart. Where
others saw trouble, he saw a chance to serve, to fix, to offer a fresh start.
He’d give you his jacket, his time, his care,The very shirt off his back without a second thought.
He hugged like someone who carried God’s mercy, and loved with a warmth that could never be
taught. He was the bridge when loved ones quarreled, the calm in storms, the peace in pain.A man who brought people back together, who left no broken soul the same.
His passing came sudden, like a quiet sunset, a moment that steals the breath and bends the
knees.
Yet the love he poured into this world remains, living on in memories, in hearts, in every life he
eased.
So rest now, Bernard, our brother, our cousin, our friend, your hands may be still, but your
kindness lives on, for those who love as deeply as you did, never truly leave… they only travel beyond.
