Bruce A. Baker

On January 30, 2021 Bruce Arden Baker, loving husband, father & grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Bruce was born in Akron, Ohio on November 24, 1927 to Lillian & Bernard Baker. Before his 18th birthday he convinced his mother to accompany him to the recruiting station where he promptly enlisted in the US Navy & proudly served for one year. Upon discharge from the Navy he enrolled in college to study engineering & shortly after graduation began a successful career with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company which lasted 34 years until his retirement in 1986.
Bruce was never still for long & was an active member of his community over the years. He coached countless ball games in Greentown & never missed a dance recital. He was an active member of Greentown United Methodist Church for many years & additionally, a member of the Joppa Lodge Masons in Akron. He could fix or repair anything & was often found in his basement or his garage doing just that...the result was always better than the original!
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elois & his son, Bruce A. Baker. He is survived by his loving spouse of 45 years, Jackie, son Jon (Jo) Baker, daughter Lee Ann (Tom) McGregor & five grandchildren...Amanda & Christopher McGregor and Brittany, Christopher & Justin Baker.
