Carol A. Eschliman

–

Canton, Ohio

Carol Ann Eschliman (Zagray)- age 81 of Jackson TWP, OH passed away Friday April 1st after a brief illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Ronald Eschliman, her sister Jo Ann McGrath (Zagray) of Ensenada, Mexico, Her Daughter Terry Everett (David) of Canton, OH and Son Mark Eschliman of Fort Richey, Florida. In addition she leaves two grandsons Christian Everett (18) of Canton, Oh and Stephen Fellingham (30) of Atlanta, Georgia, and her beloved dog Jax.
Carol was the oldest daughter of Carl and Betty (Cramer) Zagray of Canton, OH (both deceased). She was raised in Canton OH and was a housewife, mother and grandmother. She was active in the arts throughout her life and loved music, second only to her family. She was a proud graduate of Canton Lincoln HS and active in the Alumni musical reviews. She was a fifty plus year member of Voices of Canton Inc. (formerly Canton Civic Opera) and she continued to sing at rehearsals and attend events even when performing became too much for her. She considered VOCI a second family, and even when living in Richmond VA she regularly attended performances of the group and was in contact with its members. While in Richmond, Carol sang with the Richmond Choral Society and the First Baptist Church Choir. Returning to Canton after 8 years, she returned to active membership in VOCI (CCO) and also sang with the Stark Festival Chorale.
Raised in the faith, Carol was always a church member and active at her church. She was a long-time member of Trinity UCC of Canton OH and sang in the choir and was active in adult church classes.
A remarkably active person, Carol pursued many forms of athletic activity throughout her life. An avid skater on both the ice and the roller rink, she also played tennis and participated in synchronized swimming. She was also a coach to her children and grandsons, always encouraging them to at least try everything. She also loved creativity and art. Her drawings, hand-made cards, and poems lightened or brightened many days, with the smiles they created, and the love that was their inspiration. Her energy and love of adventure led her to travel the world with her husband Ron and to always return home to her beloved Lake Cable, where they lived for thirty years. Sitting on the deck or floating on the pontoon boat was the only time she really stopped to just sit and watch. Whilst making her home at Lake Cable, she also found time to be an active member of the Lake’s Garden Club, Women’s Club, and Lake Cable retirees.
Her family would like to mention her love, her strong spirit, and honest nature which never changed. Her life was “A life well lived and a love well spent” and truly touched those around her. We mourn her loss, but are thankful for her continued presence in our lives.
A Service of Celebration will be held on April, 23 at Trinity UCC located at 3909 Blackburn Rd. Canton, OH 44718. Calling hours will be held from 1-3 pm, with the service starting at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Voices of Canton Inc. or the Trinity UCC music department.
