DIANE MERILEE WRIGHT
(née Trimbath)

Diane Merilee Wright, age 78, of Canton, Ohio, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, February 26, 2026. She was born on August 17, 1947, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to the late Helen (Williams) Trimbath and the late William Trimbath. Diane’s life was marked by love, quiet strength, dedication, and deep devotion to her family.

A lifelong believer in the importance of education, Diane earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Education from the University of Akron in 1987. She was proud of this accomplishment and carried that pride into her professional life.

Diane retired from the Akron Beacon Journal, where she was known for her reliability, warmth, and strong work ethic.

Diane found joy in community and creativity. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society, stitchery club, and garden club. She especially loved working with her hands—whether tending flowers or creating beautiful pieces through stitchery. A devoted and voracious reader, she found comfort and happiness in books throughout her life.

Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She was the beloved mother of Shari (Dale) Saus-Mitchell and Deborah (Greg) Franklin. She was a cherished grandmother to Madison (Jonah) Schulz, Chase Franklin, and Kenady Saus, and a proud great-grandmother to Juliette and Rhiannon, with another great-granddaughter, Caroline, due in May. Diane had already lovingly begun a special cross-stitch piece for baby Caroline—a reflection of her excitement and the thoughtfulness she poured into everything she did for her family.

She is also survived by her brother, Tedd Trimbath.

Diane will be remembered for her gentle heart, her creativity, her love of learning, and the steady, unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the many lives she touched.
