On May 31, 2024, Floyd Noel Breit, a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, concluded his incredible journey of 97 years. Born on April 29, 1927, in Alliance, Ohio, Floyd's life was marked by service, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to his loved ones and community.
At the tender age of 17, Floyd's sense of duty led him to join the Navy, where he served with distinction on the Joseph P. Kennedy during World War II. Following his military service, Floyd's career took flight with Eastern Airlines before landing him at John Jacob Travel Agency. Demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit, Floyd purchased the agency, renaming it Breit Travel, and served as a beacon in the travel industry until his retirement.
Floyd's dedication to service extended well beyond his professional life into his beloved Canton community. He devoted 15 years to volunteering at the World Golf Championship at Firestone Country Club and spent 9 years volunteering at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, contributing over 2000 hours of service. Alongside his late wife, Nancy, Floyd was a longtime supporter of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Celebration, and in 2015, he proudly showcased and sold his home to the Hall Of Fame Village. A dedicated member of Canton Masonic Lodge 60 for 40 years and a member of the Scottish Rite, Floyd's impact was felt widely and deeply throughout his community.
Floyd was a beacon of positivity, radiating wisdom, encouragement, and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His friendly smile, good sense of humor, and genuine concern and interest in others were his trademarks, making him a cherished figure in the lives of many. Floyd's greatest joy was found within the walls of his home, as a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His family, who brought him immeasurable happiness and pride, survives him: daughters Patti (Harry) Rotunno and Roseann Hill; grandchildren Josh, Caleb, and Lauren Hill, Brian, Megan, Michael, and Adam Rotunno, and Sean and Eric Breit.
