Gail Spencer

–

Malvern, Ohio

Gail Lynn Spencer, age 71, of Canton, Ohio, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 4, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Gail was a woman who found extraordinary beauty in life's simplest pleasures. An old soul at heart, she understood that happiness was not measured by material possessions or grand occasions, but rather by the quiet, meaningful moments that make life so precious. Whether she was tending to her beloved flowers, watching the birds gather outside, or simply enjoying the peacefulness of nature, Gail found joy in the world around her.

A 1972 graduate of Louisville High School, Gail carried with her a gentle spirit and a genuine appreciation for the little things in life. Gardening was among her greatest passions. She took tremendous pride in her flowerbeds, lovingly nurturing each plant and watching her gardens come to life with color and beauty. For Gail, time spent outdoors was never time wasted. It was where she felt most at peace, surrounded by the flowers she grew and the birds she so faithfully fed.

Above all else, Gail was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and treasured friend. Her love for her family was unwavering, and she had a special place in her heart for children. Her warmth and kindness extended far beyond her immediate family, embracing friends, extended relatives, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout the years. Gail possessed that wonderful ability to make others feel welcomed, valued, and loved.

She understood the importance of friendship and the lasting impact of simply being there for someone. To those who knew her, Gail was more than a friend or family member. She was a comforting presence, a caring heart, and someone whose love and thoughtfulness will not soon be forgotten.

Gail leaves behind her beloved husband, Don Spencer; her son, Scott Reed, and his wife, Shannon; her cherished granddaughter, Shelby Reed; her sister, Darla Contrucci; her niece, Brandy Shaffer; her nephew, Jason Hubbard; and many great-nieces and great-nephews, along with numerous friends and extended family members who will forever hold her memory close.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Geraldine Shaffer; her beloved son, Michael Reed; and her brother, Mark Shaffer. While her passing brings great sorrow to those she leaves behind, there is comfort in the thought of her being reunited with those who went before her.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate staff of Altercare Country Lawn Nursing Home for the kindness, care, and support extended to Gail and her loved ones. Their dedication and thoughtfulness during this chapter of her life will always be remembered with gratitude.

As family and friends reflect upon Gail's life, perhaps the most fitting way to honor her memory is to embrace the very things that brought her happiness. Plant a flower, fill a bird feeder, spend a quiet afternoon outdoors, or take a moment to appreciate the beauty that so often goes unnoticed in the busyness of everyday life.

For Gail, those simple pleasures were among life's greatest gifts.

And while the gardens she so lovingly tended will continue to bloom with the changing seasons, the love she planted in the hearts of those around her will remain forever.

Gail will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
