Gregory Wachunas

–

Canton, Ohio

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gregory Wachunas, a man of loving disposition and unparalleled wit, on February 26, 2025. Born on December 18, 1963, in Columbus, Ohio, Greg lived an inspiring life full of laughter and love. A native of Ohio, he spent the bulk of his lifetime between Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and North Canton, Ohio, where he attended and wrestled at North Canton Hoover High School.

Greg, a reliable and supportive figure, was a dedicated employee at various employments over the years, where he was loved by many. His dedication to his work was admirable, but Gregory's heart was truly at home. A passionate follower of Pittsburgh sports, he found joy watching the Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins, often sharing this fascination with his beloved son, Lucas. His love for music, cooking, and hitting the links for a round of golf with some of his closest friends only added to his kindhearted personality. He always had a soft spot in his heart for his furry friends, Lambert, Rocky and Rennie. Though, it was his son's baseball games where he found the most joy, standing in the crowd, cheering Lucas on, embodying the spirit of the quote, “The love in our family flows strong and deep, leaving us memories to treasure and keep.”

But above all, Greg’s life was defined by people he held close to his heart. His son Lucas, his sisters Libby Jarvis (Steve), Sarah Wachunas, and Nichole Hare (Chris) as well as his late parents William Wachunas and Cheryl Egan shaped him into the man he was. Likewise, he cherished his aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom played a meaningful role in his life and brought him endless love. Greg often enjoyed being with his Nieces & Nephews Alie Jarvis, Katie (Shannon) George, John (Courtney) Jarvis, Keith Hare and Cora Hare, and Great Nephews Chance and Jack. His friends were a constant source of laughter and loyalty throughout his life, offering unwavering support and lifelong companionship. His life was a testament to the truth that what matters most in life is not our achievements or possessions, but the love and relationships we nurture.
