Jack R. Hopkins

–

Canton, Ohio

Hopkins, Jack Robinson, age 94, of Canton, OH, passed away on October 9, 2020, at the Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center in Louisville, OH, from a brief illness. Jack is survived by his loving Daughter, Jackie (Hopkins) Swanson and his precious Grandson, Terry L. Swanson, Jr. He will be dearly missed by his family and close friends (old and new).
Jack was born in Akron, OH, son of the late Lafe and Era Hopkins. He graduated from Springfield High School, Akron, OH, in 1944, and then married his life-long sweetheart, the late Elva Marie (Dennison) Hopkins in 1944. They were married for 66 years. Now they will be together forever once again.
Jack (a WWII Veteran) served his country in the Army as Staff Sergeant for three years. Coming back from Germany, he reenlisted in the Army Reserves for three years. He worked as a tire builder for The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, Akron, OH, for 40 years and retired in 1983. He has also been a Mason with the William McKinley Lodge for over 50 years.
Per Jack’s request, cremation (arrangements made through the care of Schneeberger Funeral Home, Canton, OH) has taken place with no calling hours or service. He would like to be remembered as he was in life, as a good friend, husband, father and “papaw”, caring, loving and generous. He asks to keep his daughter and grandson in your prayers.
I know he would want special thanks to the people who cared for him which would be the ER staff at Aultman Hospital, the 5th floor Orthopedic section of Aultman Hospital, Aultman Hospice staff and a very special thanks for the Loving Care he received at the Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center in Louisville, OH, while living there over the past year and 5 months, and their Hospice staff during his last days.
