Jane M. McKibben

–

Canton, Ohio

With a charisma that could light up a room and a wit so sharp it could slice bread, Jane M McKibben, also known as our beloved "Janie," began her heavenly choir practice on January 11, 2025. With a mischievous glint in her eye, Jane was born on November 23, 1957, in Akron, Ohio, the world became a little bit brighter, and the jokes got a whole lot funnier. Jane was a soul whose wit and creativity were as boundless as her love for those around her. She was a smart cookie, easily outshining the brightest stars with her mind, heart, and spirit.

Janie's life was a vibrant canvas, splashed with the colors of her various roles. Jane was a hoot to be around. As an X-Ray Technician, she was not just a medical professional, but a beloved member of her work family. She was a masterful X-ray Tech who hung up her lead apron after 30 years at Alliance Community Hospital. Known for her contagious laugh and witty nicknames, she brightened the hallways, fondly referring to her beloved colleagues as her "Liversnaps and Petunias." If you were lucky enough to be dubbed a nickname, you were part of her tribe.

Jane's faith was the backbone of her vibrant life. She firmly believed that "God is Love," as written in her very first Bible. Her love for music led her to the Sanctuary Choir and Resounding Joy Bell Choir at Trinity UCC in Canton, OH. When not harmonizing with her fellow choristers or doing her uncannily accurate impersonation of a synchronized swimmer at the Hartman pool, Jane played Euchre and Chickenfoot with her competitive spirit. Never one to miss a Browns' game, Jane would record them on good old VHS tapes if necessary. Jane was also renowned for her couponing prowess, often turning a profit from her wheeling and dealing. She enjoyed traveling in her younger days with her family, friends, and church, collecting adventures and memories that she would later recount with her creative storytelling. She enjoyed admiring flowers at the McKinley Monument Garden Center, despite being a favorite target for the local geese. Fridays were reserved for Dominoes at Denny's and her love for boat rides was as vast as the waters themselves.

Janie's love for her family was as expansive as her vibrant personality. She leaves behind her daughters, Natalie (Josh) Mickley and Kristen (James) McKibben, whom she loves to the ends of the earth and back again. Also leaving behind her sisters Gail (Tom) Lundberg and Barbie (Gary) Bonam, her brother Tommy (Janet) Wolf, step-sister Joanne (Dave) Brannon, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her grandson Corbin McKibben says he will miss Granny’s warmth, laughter and most of all, her kisses. She has been reunited in heaven with her late husband, Patrick McKibben; her parents, Edward Schoenbaechler and Joann Wolf; and her brother, Phil Schoenbaechler.

The family wants to express deep appreciation to Southern Care Hospice and The Inn at Belden Village for the magnificent love and grace they showed Jane.
