JoAnn (James) Shisler

JoAnn “Jo” Shisler age 90 of Jackson township passed away in her sleep November 4, 2023 after a brief illness at Aultman Compassionate Care Center with her family by her bedside. She is survived by her children, Lynn Shisler Stevens of Hillsboro,Ohio; Terri Shisler Ehret, and John (Cindy) Shisler of Canton; three grandchildren Paul Ehret and Nathan Shisler of Canton and Victoria Shisler of Richmond, Virginia.
Preceded in death by her parents H.L. James and Ruth James, husband Howard P. Shisler, daughter Paula Jo Shisler, son-in-law Charles W Stevens, three brothers, Harold W (Bill), Richard L, and Charles “Buzzy” James.
JoAnn was a 1951 graduate of Canton McKinley High School, where she and her classmates met each week for breakfast and lunch once a month.
She had a fulfilling career in real estate and at the Board of elections where she retired from. During her retirement she was fond of traveling, playing golf, and spending her winters in Florida. Jo had a love for playing cards, the Ohio State buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Guardians and she was a 50+ member of the Delta Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
Calling hours will be November 17 from 10:00-11:00AM with a service following immediately.
The burial will follow at St. Jacobs Cemetery, in Cairo, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Stark County Humane Society or to the Aultman Woodland Compassionate Care Center.
