Robert O. Cochran

–

Canton, Ohio

Robert O. Cochran.
On Tuesday June 20, 2017, God commanded his angels to visit Laurels of Canton to bring home the soul of Robert O. Cochran, affectionately called Daddy Bob. Robert was born May 5, 1925 in Birmingham, Alabama to Oliver and Alberta Cochran. He spent much of his youth in Alabama and Georgia. After deciding working in coal mines was not the future he imagined for himself, he proudly went to serve in the US Army. Robert eventually migrated to Canton where he united in Holy Matrimony with Louise Jackson. There were blessed to raise and nurture 6 boys and 3 girls.
His educational background was full of life lessons he learned while working in retail, construction and heavy machinery within the Ohio Operating Engineers. He spent his last ten years working for the City of Canton, utilizing his farming skills and knowledge. Daddy Bob really softened a lot while planting the most beautiful flowers in the mediums of downtown Canton. He had an eye of knowing which flowers to co-mingle and display making our city streets a site to be seen.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Louise, two sisters; Zora and Vernetta, three brothers; John, James, and William; six sons, Herman, Jerome, Donald, Marvin, James (JT) and Mubashir (Charles). He leaves to mourn a long life of memories - his sister; Barbara Woods of Compton, Ca. daughters, Geraldine (Ben) McKimmie, Arie (Nell) Freeman and Gwendolyn Grizzard Parish all of Canton. His legacy extends beyond many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be sorely missed by life-long friends George Provens, Perry Miles and neighbor Donald Carvers.
It is our prayer the God is well-pleased with the 92 year journey He granted Robert on this earth. It is our Hope and Belief that He has now welcomed home his servant.

2 Timothy 4: 7-8
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that Love his appearing."
